16th INTERNATIONAL SACRED MUSIC CHOIR FESTIVAL 2010
07026 OLBIA (SARDINIA) – ITALY
The “Lorenzo Perosi” choral association, with the patronage of the local Council and the Provincial Olbia-Tempio, organizes from September 28th to October 03rd 2010 in Olbia (Sardinia) the 16th International Sacred Music Choir Festival.
The festival is open to all interested choirs that will fill in and send the hereto attached application form.
The festival is an event with no commercial aim. It is a moment where good music and friendship among different cultures join together.
FESTIVAL REPERTOIRE
Choir’s repertoire is not restrictive. Compulsory pieces are not requested. Each choir has to indicate the music genre of their pieces on the application form. The music genre can be more than one.
- Sacred repertoire;
- Gregorian;
- Profane polyphony;
- Choral arrangements of folk songs, traditional songs;
- Spiritual, Gospel;
- Opera pieces.
PERFORMANCE PLACES
The sacred, spiritual and gospel repertoire will be held in the town’s or region’s churches while the profane and folk repertoire will also be held outdoor, in squares or in public places.
On Sunday, 03rd October at 11:00 am, all choirs will accompany the Holy Mass which will take place in the Church of “Our Lady of La Salette” with a common repertoire.
The final timetable and performance locations will be officialized and communicated to each choir within June 30th 2010.
FESTA DEL BEL CANTO
This is a party which will take place on Friday, 01st October 2010 at 08:00pm. Its aim is to allow the participants to meet, get to know each other and have a party together in a more relaxed way, outside the concert sphere.
During the party each choir will sing a folk piece from their own countries and then all together a Sardinian folk song (the vocal score will be sent to you after the acceptance of your application form). Refreshments using local products will be served.
PROGRAMME
The town of Olbia is situated on the North-East coast of Sardinia. It is considered the official gateway to Costa Smeralda and to the breathtaking tourist locations of Gallura. You can reach the town in two ways:
. by plane: through the airlines operating on Costa Smeralda International Airport, departing from major Italian and European cities;
. by ferry: from Genoa, Livorno and Civitavecchia.

10:00am Rehearsal of the repertoire that will be performed during Sunday’s Holy Mass.
07.00pm Gran Gala closing evening. All choirs will perform for 15 minutes each.
10:00pm Closing-dinner
Sunday, 03rd October 2010
11:00am Holy Mass at the church of “Our Lady of La Salette” accompanied by all festival participants.
01:00pm Lunch and thanking salutation to all participants
The Association has scheduled concerts in Olbia and in other towns of the Gallura region each day of your stay.
REGISTRATION
Within March 31 st, 2010
You will have to send the application form together with a biography of the choir, the choir director’s name and a recent sound recording. Within April 30th 2010, you will receive a confirmation of participation and under separate cover further forms concerning programmes of concerts to be filled in and the liturgical and folk vocal score.
Within May 31st 2010 you will have to submit
- schedule of the events, including the list of the pieces for each concert together with their composers and duration.
- Material for the archive: choir addresses, photos, staff, repertoire, web site, organized events.
Within June 30th 2010
- a) final list of participants.
